My research into the question does green tea have caffeine has concluded that yes, it does. In answer to the question how much and how does it compare we have the following averages:
- A cup of instant coffe contains 75-85mg caffeine
- A cup of filtered coffee contains 150mg caffeine
- A can of coke contains 34mg caffeine
- A cup of regular tea contains 40-50mg caffeine
- A cup of green tea contains 15-20mg caffeine
I would stress again that there are many factors which can affect these figures and different green teas will give different results.
It is possible to get green tea which has been decaffeinated, but the process tends to rob the tea of many of it’s beneficial qualities so whether decaff green tea is worth drinking is a moot point. It should be remembered that the reason green tea is so much better than black tea is because the leaves have not been oxidized and retain all their nutrients which include minerals, vitamins and antioxidants.
Conclusion: Does Green Tea Have Caffeine?
